Question: How do I know if sex therapy can help me, or if I need to see a medical doctor for lack of desire?

Hello Everyone!

An important question that I have come across in my practice is whether to go to a sex therapist or a medical doctor about the sexual problem of lack of desire for sex in a relationship. The main indicator here would be whether you experience sexual feelings, thoughts, and arousal in any other situations. A simple test would be, if you are able to engage in self-stimulation and/or masturbation and experience some form of arousal. If so, this is an indicator that the physiology of the sexual response is working, hence, you are a great candidate for sexuality psychotherapy which will work towards improved sexual fulfillment with non-medicinal interventions.

Stay tuned for more informational tidbits.
